20130131-IMG_2875 Salt Works Pond and the South San Diego Bay Power Plant which will be imploded on February 2, 2013. The Power plant was decommissioned and disconnected from the grid, after 53 years of service. Capturing it at "Sunset" on its next to last night standing seemed an appropriate tribute. Weather must cooperate as calm conditions are necessary to minimize debris leaving the site. Fortunately, the structure will collapse away from the solar salt ponds we operate. Shorebirds can be seen in the high salinity pond in the foreground, foraging on brine flies. The two blurs in the pond are a seagull and its reflection which were flying through the frame as I shot it with a slow shutter speed.
